RED IS ONE YEAR OLD TODAY

RED

RED was released one year ago today, and this blog is obviously all about… RED!

REVIEWERS BLOG

A huge thank you to Louise for this review, which genuinely made my day!

“This is a book I'd gladly give more than 5 stars to. It's not often a story leaves me with a genuine "mind-blown" feeling, but that's definitely what I was left with after finishing RED. Everything about it had me hooked straight away: the chilling, superbly crafted opening scene, the compelling main character, and an artfully sustained sense of dread that pervades every page and keeps me wondering what dark, terrible thing would happen next.

What I enjoyed most, though, was the narration style. In the book, the author describes himself as a fan of classic horror writers Poe and Lovecraft; for me, he captured their style and weaved his own voice into it perfectly. I'd recommend anyone with an interest in Poe and Lovecraft's work to check out RED as well.

BACKGROUND

After writing Obsession, I felt I had unfinished business with the fractured mind idea and decided to explore this theme further. I also wanted this story to be much darker and more brutal than my other stories… I am confident that I have achieved this with RED.

RED was originally going to be a short festive story to release in time for Christmas but ended up growing arms, legs… and the secret ingredient, which I won’t say as it will be a spoiler.

THEME

RED can be considered a Psychological Horror or even a Supernatural Horror, depending on how it resonates with you as the reader. I decided to have a little fun with this story, which has paid off, and I love how it has turned out. Of course, there is only one actual theme to RED, but I invite you to go in blind and see for yourself.

OVERVIEW

RED is a story told through the eyes of a man who has suffered a deeply fractured past. Although he has somehow managed to forge a relatively stable life, things are not always what they may seem.

BLURB

When recent events threaten to tear his world apart, a broken soul is drawn to a whisper manifesting within the darkness.
A whisper that offers him the faith to face the shadows of his past, and the ability to deal with those who have wronged him.

RECEPTION

On Goodreads, RED currently has 20 ratings and 11 reviews, with an average score of 4.40.

On Amazon, RED has 10 ratings, with an average of 4.2

I want RED to reach more readers, and my goal is to double the ratings on Amazon and Goodreads by the time I release my next horror tale.

 MY HONEST THOUGHTS

As far as I am concerned, RED is the best story I have written to date. After a recent re-read of all my stories, this was absolutely clear to me.

I love the structure and atmosphere, and I feel the writing showcases my progression as a horror author, something I strive to achieve with each new story.
